American Idol final – Kris Allen won

Kris Allen made one of the more surprising upsets in Idol history. The clean cut Allen, who looks like he was directly plucked from a Christian magazine, upset the highly touted glam rocker Adam Lambert.
Kris Allen’s smooth vocals and boy-next-door image propelled him to “American Idol” victory Wednesday, turning the theatrical powerhouse Adam Lambert into the most unlikely of also-rans.
“I’m sorry, I don’t even know what to feel right now. This is crazy,” said a stunned Allen, 23, of Conway, Ark.
As host Ryan Seacrest said in announcing the result of the viewer vote, “The underdog, the dark horse, comes back and wins the nation over.”
Lambert’s commanding vocal range and stage presence — and the judges’ adoration of him — at times turned “Idol” into “The Adam Lambert Show,” with the other contestants mere guests. But it turned out that “Idol” viewers could embrace a gifted performer like Lambert, one who sported black nail polish and bold self-assurance, only to a point.
Simon Cowell not known for giving praises and compliments, tipped his hat to both contestants Wednesday.
“To both of you, and I don’t normally mean this, I thought you were both brilliant. The future’s all yours,” the judge said.

With upcoming made-for-TV movies “The Wizards of Waverly Place” and “Princess Protection Program,” spunky starlet Selena Gomez is racing up the Hollywood ladder. But as magical as her life is, the 16-year-old Disney Channel star is quite the realist: “I like to dream, but I also like to be realistic. Sometimes, when something is so nice and sweet, I just crush it. I dont mean to, but I dont want to be let down.”
“Princess Protection Program,” a film Selena starred in with her real-life best friend, Demi Lovato, will premiere in June. The story, which shows what friendship really means and the good it can bring out in people, mirrors the supportive relationship Selena and Demi have: “We’re both surrounded by adults 24/7, and we have to act professional, but when were together we can just be sixteen. We watch movies, talk about boys, and do each others hair and makeup.”
As far as love goes, Selena admits that what she looks for in a boyfriend has changed a lot lately. With one serious relationship behind her — she dated super famous Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers — she happily confesses: “I want what I deny. I want someone who is crazy about me, who treats me like a princess. I want the picture-perfect fairy-tale stuff.”
